MD Creatives go virtual for Christmas

MD Creatives, independent vocational education providers, has announced two weeks of Christmas capers, culminating in the premier of a brand new production, The Journey Through Christmas, available to view on MD’s website on December 21.

With live theatre forced to take a backseat this year due to Covid-19, MD Creatives refused to let the 2020 festive season pass by without some sparkle, so students set out to create a magical piece for Christmas, from script through to costume, set design and performance. Filming of The Journey Through Christmas, also carried out by the students, took place inside St Helens’ iconic Citadel building, and now MD Creatives’ newest venue in the town.

Teaming up with local independents Toast, The Daily Grind, The Rainford Deli and Momo’s, MD Creatives is also creating 300 treat boxes, which will be delivered to some of the area’s most disadvantaged families in the lead up to Christmas.

Miguel Doforo, creative director and founder of MD Creatives, said:

“We may not be able to perform this Christmas to a live audience as we normally do, but that is not going to stop us from celebrating the season. The students have faced these unprecedented challenges head on, and have worked around the clock to create a really brilliant piece of music, song, dance and drama, that we hope captures the magic of Christmas. I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved.

“I am also extremely grateful to the local independent businesses that have come on board and helped us produce the treat boxes. These will hopefully bring some Christmas cheer and excitement to families who have struggled in the town this year.”

MD Creatives is also part of the St Helen’s One Big Christmas toy appeal.
